... and that's why I love you- the incomparable Cyndi Lauper,
I have been selling a lot of 'pride hats' lately. These are comfortable, winter-ready beanies that may be made in the color of any pride flag. Trust me, there is a flag for every single thing that you can imagine. Gay bears, lipstick lesbians, poly amorous folks, they all have their own flag.

I am so excited that I can help people to show their true colors...literally lolz. At the moment I am knitting a gay bear beanie for a good friend of mine, I cannot wait to post a picture, so look forward to that guys. Anyways, not to mention that I make a tidy profit, twenty dollars per hat. I plan on knitting a poly amorous and gender queer hat for myself when business slows down.
This is not a sales pitch, simply an observation that my hats are a great way to start a discussion. "hey! I love your hat!"..."Thanks it's the colors of the bisexual flag...
Update: I finished the hat!!! HUZZAH, please comment and let me know what you think.
Toodles for now I am off to sleep- yours fondly Avery-Katlyn

waffles, the food and the stitch
When it comes to knitting the basic concept is thus; there are two stitches (knits and purls) and every other "stitch pattern" is a combination of these two stitches.
The stitch of the day is the waffle stitch.
I have been working on a waffle stitch/moss stitch border shawl for the past three weeks and I have finally exceeded the halfway point. A waffle stitch is a rather simple stitch that can be done multiple ways. Essentially, waffle stitch is composed of two alternating knit stitches and purls. The next row is typically the exact opposite of the prior. So, if a row is k2 p2 k2 p2, the next row will be p2 k2 p2 k2.The goal is top create a criss-cross pattern that somewhat resembles its namesake.
There are six stitches on either side of each row that create a nice crisp moss stitch border. Moss stitch is the same thing as the waffle stitch except not done in groups of two. Moss stitch is k,p,k,p,k,p and the next row p,k,p,k,p,k
I swear to God that I will never make a shawl again, no matter the amount of money offered. It has been two weeks since I wrote the first part of this post. I am so sick of this pattern. It is the same movement over and over for five feet, it's terrible. Alas, I promised to make this for my customer, and I will finish it. http://newstitchaday.com/waffle-stitch/
